Sally Field won the Emmy for Best Lead Actress/ Drama !!!! I don't know if she was possessed by her character when she accepted the trophy because she was perfectly annoying.  You would learn to love her if you guys watch the series. It's like loving your mom, given how maddening, infuriating and aggravating she is sometimes.

Watching Brothers and Sisters is such a good therapy. I am not saying that it is a great series, but it's nothing less than good. Nauseous sometimes, but really good.

I was having bad days with my mom when I dived in for a series marathon and it helped me out to get through those days. Fred keeps on saying that the show was awesome and endlessly talked about it. I've got a copy stuck in my collection for several months, so I tried watching it when my mom is at silent mode, asleep that is ( I just hate it if she tries to compete with the TV and they end up in a horrible duet). Guess what, I caught myself addicted and frantically gasping to have a taste of the 2nd season.

My mom talks a lot. She is the realization of the word "ANNOYING", in Bold letters, all caps!!!! My mom has that tendency to talk too much (to the point that I need to be redundant), she knows her way down restricted areas of my life,  repeat things a lot and overly react. She could be very sarcastic and could be very furious if she finds things being kept from her. A terrible liar, irritatingly sensitive and hilariously funny sometimes. All of those were perfectly mirrored in this series by Nora (Sally Field). Dealing with Nora's character is just like dealing with the daily agony that I face with my mom. I don't know, but I ended up appreciating all those traits my mom has. All of those, even the most bitter part of her existence. I hate her sometimes, but I definitely love her beyond measure.  She's been through a lot and she is the toughest woman I have ever met.

Nora has 5 children and it's really cool finding yourself in one of them. Funny, because in my case, I found myself in all of her children. Eldest is Sarah, enduring a failing marriage and is trapped in her responsibilities to continue what her father left and keep the family in tact. Next is Kitty, a level headed woman, driven by ambition who suffers undying feuds with Nora. 3rd would be Tommy, insecure, confused about his role in the family and  just found out that he is incapable to reproduce. Everyone would love Kevin, 4th in line, the gay brother, a lawyer who is always on the brink of disastrous relationships.  Finally, we have Justin, a war veteran who is now living a wasted life.

To make things worst, when their father died, they found out that their family business is about to crash and that their father has a mistress who co-exists with them for 20 years. Also, to make it more chaotic, they have a 20 year old step-sister who then found herself making-out with Sarah's husband. We also have Kitty's boyfriend, Senator McCallister (Rob Lowe), and to bring things beyond borders, he is eventually running as President of United States!!!!

What a co-incidence because my father also has a mistress and we have 4 step-siblings. Sally Field gave voice to those things unspoken. My mom talks a lot, but she keeps things about my Dad's mistress somewhere unreachable. I admire her strength for that.

There are some episodes that I wish to bang all their heads together. The show could really go crazy. Expect lots of riotous revelations, insane confrontations and lots and lots of humiliations. I never saw a show where siblings argue over sperm while having dinner. The writers did a good job in this series. The sub-plots could be confusing sometimes, but the sum of it all is not that bad. The humor really works and the drama is not that heavy but you would surely wet your hankies!

Kevin, the gay brother, was one of my favorite character. There were a lot of scenes here where gay kiss was openly shown on TV, but that is not my point. His character and how he handles relationships reflects those who are confused and those who knows what they want but keeps on getting something imperfect.

I also love Patricia Wettig, the feisty mistress!!!! It is nice to know how this extra-marital-affair people exist. How they hunger for time and attention and how they long-not-to-do-what-they-are-doing-but-keeps-on- doing-it-because-of-this-thing-called-LOVE !!!

But I don't feel the same way with my Dad's mistress, because in contrast, she took everything. I don't hate her because things were already done and those broken are now impossible to fix. On our side, right now, our lives are fabulously great. It was a holocaust during those years when their affair plagued our lives. But my mom, my sisters and I, though scarred, we survived  and we could say at every end of the day that we are happy.

Right now, pity would be the only feeling that I have for my Dad and his mistress ( I dont even know her name). I heard that her life with my dad has been miserable and they are going through hell right now. I feel bad for them especially for their kids who were also just victims of their  stupidity. Karma!? Maybe.

Going back —-> You guys better grab yourselves a copy. This is not like any of those family drama. It is kinda soapy sometimes. but it is far from being 7th heaven like or "Pickety Fency-ish"!!! I tell you the 24 episodes were such nice trips.  This is one of the series that had one of my favorite finale. The final scene in their last episode for the 1st season was such a treat. Season 2 starts Sept. 30

Gossip Girl

Friday, September 21, 2007

CW's new teen drama, based on the series of novels written by Cecily von Ziegesar, would take us to the pompous world of these young adult socialites along the walks of   New York's Upper East Side.   Their world would be exposed to us by this omnicient character ,"Gossip Girl", who would narrate the events as she posts it on her blog. (This gives me another idea of having a blog about our community, since my mom knows every details in each houses) . Just like any teen drama, the story would revolve around the lives of these characters as they deal with the burden of their elite education, sex, fame, fashion, sex, friendship,  sex, love and … have I mentioned sex?. (I wonder if they also worry about body odor, tv ratings, curfew, boredom, sticky notes that dont stick, overcrowded jeepneys ,Piolo Pascual's sexuality and maxed out credit cards)

Ths show premiered in the US yesterday.  This drama was actually  supposed to be a Lindsay Lohan movie but  was shelved for some reasons.  I am actually glad that it was!  It'll be a mess if trashy Lohan would start doing her garbage!!!!

Playing the lead character, Serena, would be Blake Lively (Sisterhood of Travelling Pants) and Kirsten Bell would be the voice-over for Gossip Girl (this would mean that this series would be her 2nd show where she would play the title role). The story mainly centers between the feud of former bestfriends Serena and Blake.  Now, this wont be juicy if we dont have a guy that they should be fighting over with, that's where Nate Archibald comes in, played by hottie Chace Crawford. Blake's reign as the new Queen Bee was threatened when Blake returned after a year of hiatus without laying her reasons. What Blake is more concerned about is the attention that Nate has over Serena. We also have these character Dan who is looking from the outside together with her sister Jenny. Their parents dont pay the same taxes as what the parents of the other characters do but their lives were nonetheless spun in this web. Naughty secrets , gasping scandals. sex, drugs, parties, Armanni and Versace… thats what this is all about. What's interesting is that, all of the characters visit Gossip Girl's blog just to read about themselves and their fellow East Siders. This unseen know-it-all for some reason is everywhere. A papparazzi brutale!!!

Dont be surprised if you get that familiar "The O.C." feeling while watching the show. Josh Schwartz is the show's creator that's why. I hope we wont have another Marissa in this series (unless it really happened in the storyline of course). Also, watchout for a really good soundtrack, Alexandra Patsavas, music supervisor of the OC and Grey's Anatomy would again choose the notes for this show.

When former IT girl Serena left for unknown reasons, it damaged her relationship with her bestfriend Blair. However, when Blair realized that she is enjoying the attention she is getting, she plans of not bringing it back or at least sharing it with Serena. This throws Serena out of their circle but doesnt take her off from the eyes of Chace.

Blair has all the grudges against Serena because she could never have all of Chace's attention. Chace on the other hand is suffering from the stressful chains of his father. We also have this mischievous and morally damaged bestfriend of Chace, Chuck, who would keep things a riot!!!

Serena then found herself with regular boy, Dan.  They had that connection that broomed Serena further from the elite circle. Dan's sister on the other hand is adjusting herself within the viscious circle.

Nice!!!

I am quite sure that those who read the novels already know how things would spin. I cant wait for this series to be shown here in the Philippines.

CUTIE ALERT!!!!

Now let's have anothe reason to watch the show! Here's Nate Archibald, played by this cute Texan Chace Crawford. He firs appered in this movie, The Covenant.  I am quite sure that he is enough to make this a must see series.

Efronish!!!

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

  picture from JustJared.com

I've finally seen High School Musical 2 last week and I am humming the songs until now!!! I would still stick on the first one as my favorite though. I love 3-4 songs in this movie and I hate Zac Efron's solo.

The movie was  totally Efronish !!! It was hip, fun, groovy, crisp and young!! Zac has several scenes in the movie where he confidently showed his bod (confident  as in —> sa ilalim sya ng tubig, at isang malayong shot habang nagbabasketball)

My sister bought a soundtrack.. from me of course … heheheh —- and she just can't get enough of playing it over and over again throughout the weekend parang isang matinding sumpa!!!. Worst, she sings along with it! Aaaarghhh!!!!  Take note, infectious sya!!! I cant help it but also sing along kahit mali-mali lyrics ko!!!

Vanessa (Gabriella)  wore a swimsuit , kitang kita ang pagkapinay! Kaya eto lng masasabi namin kay Zac Efron: "You want exotic? Take me Take me!!! I have a Maya Bird! Maya Bird! Exotic here in d Pilipins.. hehehe!!!

I just noticed, the actors in HSM really knows how to sing a new song without even looking at the lyrics!!! Amazing talent isn't it? … hehehe!!!  .

Also, talk about exaggerated facial expressions, the cast surely knows how to do that! Notice the wide movements on the faces of  the minor characters as they perform, act or sing at the background, talo pa ang pantomime ni Eugene Domingo!!! Imagine how we performed on stage on our skits back in high school, parang ganun. I just think it looks funny because they have that close shot from the camera.

Nevertheless, happy ang movie and Ryan was soooo gay kaya like ko rin siya!!!

Ang buhok ni Greta!

Michelle Madrigal is  FHM'S vixen for the month of September!!! It was few months ago, the last time I posted an FHM cover girl. I just can't help it, of course the first and only thing I noticed was the hair.

I dont care about the amount of flesh exposed and what bikini she's wearing, but there's just something about the hair! Yep! Short is back people!

Now, who started it all? Could it be Victoria Beckham? Jessica Simpson? Hmmmm Jolina Magdangal …eeeng!!!!  Definitely not!!!!  … Who else …. LA GRETA of course !!!!

La Greta first sported her new hair when she visited her sister Claudine after giving birth.  After the scandalous images involving John Estrada, La Greta had an escape trip with her beau and went back to Pilipins with this new do! Of course, if La Greta is wearing it…. it's nothing less than fabulous!!!!

Kaya naman… few days later … my Friend Sooz is wearing the same hair-do. Oh sorry, let me rephrase that! … Few days later … my friend Sooz was wearing a hair-do which was an impressive attempt to imitate Gretchen's hair. IAnd that's it, after few paragraphs, I made my point. hehehe

Balik naman tayo kay Michelle Madrigal …. here are some of her pics for FHM…. Don't ask me who's sexier between Michelle  and her sister Ehra, because I dont even have any idea what to look at to answer that!

Ey guys!!! Tingnan nyo tong dalawang pictures sa taas. Look at her head on both pictures. O di ba… same emotion, same buka ng bibig, same drama ng mata!!! Nag-effort pa si Loka!!! Kidding!! heheeh..

Dingdong Dantes graced the cover for this year and as expected, he's supposed to be showing more skin!!! So far, he's the only one wearing his birthday clothes and no additional props!!!

I don't know what the theme is, pero para syang isa sa mga toh; Garden of Eden without Eve, LOST undies, Survivor for men only, o kaya … "Nang lumabas si Malakas sa Kawayan… or better yet … "Ang Lalake sa Puno ng Balete"…heheheheh

The Boldmembers this year are led by Dingdong Dantes, Derek Ramsey for the nth time, Joem Bascom, Marvin Raymundo, Jake Cuenca, Luke Jickain, Alfred Vargas, Paolo Paraiso, etc….
Here are the rest of the pack …. Jake, Derek, Marvin and Joem!!
