Way back into lalalaloooove
Saturday, February 24, 2007Drew Barrymore and Hugh Grant
"I've been living with the shadow overhead"?! Now who could've think of that!? Thank you so much, I now find myself unconsciously humming it!
If you are into flowery, bubbly, cheesy feel good movies, this team-up from Hugh Grant and Drew Barrymore would surely pump up the sweets! I would like to thank Nikkei for the free tickets.. I could've actually just paid for it.. namasahe pa ako mula Fairview papuntang Alabang Town Center makapanood lng ng libre…. pero thanks a mucho anyway!!!! Heheheh….
Hugh Grant resurrected himself out from the dumps when he appeared in a terrible movie known to many as American Dreamz!! His moves in this film were hilarious, especially how he does his remarkable hip thing! I didn't know that he can actually sing though, and I was appalled and mesmerized especially with the duets!
As usual, Drew Barrymore sparkled and dazzled all throughout the film! Drew has that marshmallow effect on every movie….she makes them so sweet and very nice to chew. You would love her here, I swear!! Barrymore could actually made rubbing the shit off your teeth on wide screen beautiful!! I also love her duet with Hugh!! Very Nice! Very Sweet!!
The chemistry is very good. It is very nice that you still could pair Hugh Grant to any actress regardless of age gap! They are so cute together. The plot is simple. An 80's pop icon was given the last chance to revive his career, his only hope is to compose a song in a few days or he would face the complete doom of his career! He is supposed to complete this song for a pop singer that sees like a perfect combination of Britney, Christina and Shakira, roubled, weird, blond and dumb!!! Hugh has problems with the lyrics and he found help from his plant-girl…. played b Drew Barrymore!! Of all jobs di ba, si Drew barrymore a plant-girl.. meron ba talaga nun sa states? It has the ingredients of a usual chick flick! Boy meets girl, fall in-love, faced conflicts with relationship and fate would do its job and would then tie their hearts together in the most romantic way!
It also boasts one of the cutest "the day after" scenes in cinema (for me lng ha!). My favorite "the day after scene" was done by Julia Roberts and John Cusack in America's Sweetheart! The piano scene after sex was so cute and funny!
I love the script! You would just find yourself laughing in between sappy scenes…. Clever, witty and full of love!!Hugh Grant has the spunk with his deliver! napapatumbling ako sa hirit ng loko! Here are some of those lines that i find cute!
Alex Fletcher: The best time I've had in the last fifteen years was sitting at that piano with you.
Sophie Fisher: That's wonderfully sensitive… especially from a man who wears such tight pants.
Alex Fletcher: It forces all the blood to my heart.
Alex Fletcher: Theoretically, I could pick you up because I will be taking a cab.
Sophie Fisher: I could be standing outside at 9:40 in bright orange clothes, so you wouldn't miss me…
Alex Fletcher: Oh good, you'll get some road work done while you wait then.
The song also features a duet from the main actors. They composed it together and then sang it and then with that they found themselves falling.. That song way back into love would not beat Adam Sandler's "Grow Old With You", but the song was actually good!! I love it as much as I love the movie! This would rank third among my Top Barrymore Movies (first would be 50 First Dates and 2nd would be "Never Been Kissed")
