Little Children
Saturday, February 3, 2007Kate Winslet, Jennifer Connely, Patrick Wilson
Imagine Kate Winslet and Jennifer Connely in one movie! Nah, no need to imagine, we already have this film.
I saw the movie last weekend. I wont recommend this for people who are looking for films that would make them happy, sad, excited or as well as for people who merely wants to have a glimpse of Kate Winslet's boobs yet again!
The movie is for the confused. For those who doesn't know what they want, what they need! For those people who doesnt know what makes them happy, or rather who makes them happy!
This movie are for the trapped. For those who are stuck. For those who doesnt know how to get out!
This movie is for the discriminated. For those who feels like they dont belong, for the unnoticed and for the heavily rejected.
You would surely get a close-up of Kate Winslet's nips, but guys the movie is more than that! Kate Winslet was such a winner in her performance in this movie. I love her! She is such a winner in playing a loser. She shimmers in her red bathing suit even though that was the only suit she has to wear everyday!
The movie tells us the story of different people in a certain neighborhood and how their lives affect each other. The narration that they added is such a good idea. It gives you a feel of watching a documentary! You would have in-depth understanding of what the characters feel, of what they think and of what they want to do!
The ending! Yes the ending! Others might find it uhhmmm… "bitin"!! But I think it was perfect! You just have to see it to know what I mean! It was a beautifully woven film, woven from different threads, but has no knot on the end! Allowing the viewer to knot it themselves or continue weaving it!
In Pursuit Of Happyness
Will Smith, Jaden Smith, Thandie newton
If you are looking for a sure tear-jerker, this movie wont fail you! I was heart-broken, depressed, inspired and moved all at the same time by this movie. Smith's performance was so powerful that he could easily crumple your heart!
I am very much affected with almost every scenes! Maybe because of regret that I never had a father and maybe because I also had those days that I could actually share with these characters.
Gardener spent all of his savings to invest in these bone scanners, not knowing that these equipment are of no value to most doctors. It was 1981 and America is at a state of economic crisis. Gardener has to face that as well as the breakdown of his family. His wife left him due to the mere reason that she cant stand the poverty that they are living. Gardener fought for the custody of their son. They were kicked out from their apartment, kicked out from the motel, his bank account squeezed by the gov. due to unpaid taxes, and Gardener bumped by a car while tracking down people who stole his scanners. He was then given a chance for an internship in a brokerage. He has to face months of no salary and has no assurance of getting the job at the same time. Together, Gardener and son faced how cruel life could be, homeless, penniless, has nothing to eat but ultimately happy for having each other.
The movie is a quest for finding out what happiness is for ourselves. How they spelled happiness in the title means a lot of things. We know what makes us happy and we know what we all need to make us happy. But, happiness cannot be measured by all of those needs and wants fulfilled! Happiness comes in our lives and it is often there without us noticing it. It is there but we also need to strive to get it! Happiness is never artificial! It is a natural high! A rush of emotions! Happiness is being safe while being wrapped in love!
It also holds the important message of believing and loving yourself. We know what we want to be and we should not let anyone build walls. I wish I do have a father who would also tell me those kind of stuff!
Will Smith is exceptional in this film. He would certainly drive you to tears. But this doesn't mean that he has the sure spot to take home the Oscar! We'll just have to wait and see!
