Super Noypi

Mark Herras, Jennylyn Mercado, Sandara Park, John Pratts, Polo Ravales

directed by Quark Henares

I am really disappointed how the movie turned out! Trailers often deceive me a lot. When I saw the trailer I was truly overwhelmed and excited, as well as when I heard about this film's production. I was actually able to follow it through its official blog and I was also confident of seeing nice results given one of my favorite directors would be doing it. I was also excited to see the results of this brave attempt from the local film industry ( especially for Mother Lily ) ,  pero sorry ka na lng, asa ka pa!.

5 ordinary teen-agers and one kid realize that they have extraordinary abilities, given that their parents were once known as the country's mighty superheroes.  Their parents were abducted by an unknown nemesis and a girl from the future traveled to our time to help them and as well as to change history.

The movie failed in a lot of aspects!! Syempre, superhero movie to, so we would very much notice the visual effects. There were some scenes that was really impressive, but most of the attempts failed. Masyadong marumi ang pagkakagawa. Parang Rush ID picture…. pero hindi natuyo at maraming smudges. There were scenes na parang mga humanoids sila. Sobrang deformed ang mga ulo at mga images. Mga greenroom shots siguro at hindi maayos ang pag-paste ng images nila sa CG.

The movie has the Meily signature all throughout, so dont expect a glossy screen in watching this one. If you saw Keka, and the episode of Ann Curtis in Wag kang Lilingon, you would have an idea on what the film would actually look like. Think of ….. nicotine brown… heheh… ganung kulay!!

Aubrey Miles named Katrina Halili as a worst Actress in her interview with DJ Mo, she's actually right about that, but she wouldn't be excluded if I say that the actors on this film delivered lousy performances. Monsour del Rosario replaced Victor Neri in this movie, believe me , you would surely want to see Victor Neri instead. Sandara Park's performance, (who would never have a role that has nothing Korean) is definitely a clear photocopy of how she acts during her SCQ days. But she was actually able to put some laughs on the movie though.  Jao Mapa, Jennifer Sevilla and the rest of them who played roles of the parents totally freaked me out. They'll make your hairs stand, every time they throw a line. Remember how we play Superhero with our friends when we were kids, that is how they actually sound. They look terrible in their costumes as well.

I would like to commend John Pratts with his performance on this one. He was able to deliver his character very well. Funny with less effort. I think he is enjoying his role given he has a lot of smoochings with Katrina Halili.

Flight scenes were terrible. Vilma's flight scenes in Darna are actually better. The straps for the lifter is being covered by a pasted image, and it is totally obvious. The CG wings are not too good as well. You would actually laugh with how they actually make flames on this movie. Imagine pasting a kid's drawing of fire in one of the character here while he/she is acting of being burnt. Believe me, watch Wansapanatym instead! But not exactly all of those scenes though, I love the scene where John Pratts attacked Monsour del Rosario in their final confrontation.

They were actually boasting Jennylyn Mercado doing her stunts in the airplane scene, but that  is not notable at all. Jennylyn doing that stunt herself doesn't matter.  A shoot that took several hours that only took a 30 second screen time. I would also like to commend the double for Jen's character who made a good job to cover-up what Jen cant obviously do. They should have hired someone to do her acting as well…. To make it short, they should've had a different actress for her part.

The movie is not a total trash. I actually love the twist in Katrina's character, but the ending doesn't show what exactly happened to her after those revelations. I love how they realized their visions of Manila 70 yrs from now and their version of the future tricycle. The story is not original, but it is actually commendable for them making such efforts to make this a true Filipino production.
